It is a street style as lifestyle, where the music and dance reflects life in the townships, much the same way hip hop reflects life in the American neighborhood. Kwaito is very uplifting as it gives voice to and celebrates the diversity in South African dance and music genres. It is a variant of house music featuring the use of African sounds and samples. However, the overwhelming message that is being expressed in the music and culture surrounding Kwaito is one of just wanting to have fun. Come and experience a range of South African dance styles ( Koffie, Pantsula, Spoujwa, Kwaito ) and music from our famous Kwaito DJ’s such as DJ waRona, DJ Rudeboy Paul, DJ Mjava, DJ Cleo, Black Coffee, Zola, Brown Dash, Vambos, and Bleksem. “Wala la wa sala thina siya jaiva, thina siya groover “.

Enjoy this Kwaito music video in the meantime:

ABOUT MAFA: Mafa Makhubalo started dancing at the age of five and trained with Toni Campbell of Zamdela Performing Arts Centre, Tshwane University of Technology and Tshwane Dance Theatre in South Africa.
